Our imperfections and insecurities and mess-ups are not deficiencies, they are opportunities to display how God has moved in our lives Can I be honest? I am such a mess. I really am. I am insecure and I doubt myself. I care deeply and quickly for things and people, but act carelessly and impulsively. I could go on and on about my different faults and weaknesses, but what would be the point? We all feel like we are a mess sometimes and listing them doesn't help anyone.
It seems so easy to pick out the faults in ourselves, but like I said in my last post, others often overlook our insecurities just as easily. It's not hard to see the crack in glass as an imperfection, but it is hard to see the potential of the crack from a different perspective. It's okay to acknowledge that we are aren't put together, because we have a God that can put us back together. I know for me, it's easy to know it but not always to believe it. But that's the truth: He created us in His perfect image and loves us despite the fact that we screw up and often don't like the things He loves. The Japanese have a custom (Kintsugi) where they fill cracks in pots and such with gold. "The repair method celebrates each artifact's unique history by emphasizing its fractures and breaks instead of hiding or disguising them. Kintsugi often makes the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with new life," Our imperfections and insecurities and mess-ups aren't deficiencies, they are opportunities to display how God has moved in our lives! You aren't damaged, you are exceptional.
