I just recently turned seventeen, and one of the questions that I get asked the most is: "What do you want to do with your life?" WELL GOOD QUESTION. I want to travel the world, meet people and hear about their lives. I want to make a difference for Christ, I want to get married to some dreamy guy and procreate. I want to make people feel again through words and photos. I want to be happy. I want to journal about my adventures and often the lack there of, and when I'm old give my journal to my granddaughter so she'll realize that I once was young, too. However, that isn't what they want to hear, they want to hear something concrete: childhood education, chemical engineering, pre-med, poly-sci, etc. The world is waiting on us 17 year olds to decide how we're going to leave our mark on it. It's inviting us into it's arms to become a part of it, and the whole thing is scary.
Adults try to make it better by suggesting schools or programs. We take aptitude tests, AP classes, we do our homework and our research, and our naive impression is that it all comes down to one decision, but it doesn't. Life isn't one monumental choice that will make or break you. It comes down to decision after decision, failure after failure, getting knocked down and getting back up. It's deciding to take this route and then changing our mind and doing something completely different. It's about falling in love a couple times, meeting people who support you, it's about living with a purpose, for a purpose. It's about choosing everyday, that today won't be the day you give up. We've been taught that it's about how much money we make, what company we work for, but the truth is: It's about the people you meet along the way, the stories, and the memories you make. When you're dying, it's not going to matter whether you were the CEO or the assistant, it's going to matter what you took away from life. It's going to matter what you lived for, not who you worked for. Don't be intimidated to grow up, feel appreciative. God has blessed you with more time on Earth, and that is a privilege. Take a risk, be spontaneous. Most of all, don't be afraid and miss out, be bold.

"Choose everyday to forgive yourself. You are human, flawed, but most of all worthy of love."
